When the mare and foal are well after the birth and the foal finds its way to the milk source on shaky legs, the breeder is very relieved and happy. By properly feeding the mare during pregnancy and lactation, we can create the decisive basis for transforming the little bearer of hope into a healthy sport and leisure companion.
FEED FERTILITY
Three months before the planned mating date, the ration should have a high content of vital substances but moderate energy value. Additional doses of Beta-Carotene-Mare-Y-Mix, trace elements (“MicroVital”) and nucleotides (“High Performer”) improve the ability to conceptualize. After the successful occupancy, attention must still be paid to micronutrient-rich but energy-adapted feeding. At the beginning of the last third of pregnancy, you should switch to Equilac broodmare feed.
NUTRIENTS FOR TWO
The proven Equilac broodmare feed was developed on the basis of many years of experience in thoroughbred breeding. It is suitable for all horse breeds. Equilac contains particularly high-quality proteins. In addition to an optimal protein-energy ratio, all minerals, trace elements and vitamins are combined in a needs-based ratio that the growing foal needs for healthy development. Brewer's yeast, seedlings, numerous maritime components and other suppliers of vital substances complete the recipe.
Feeding recommendation:
As a supplement to the regular feeding with roughage and/or grass we recommend:
from the 8th month of pregnancy: gradually start to replace the concentrated feed with Equilac.
9th to 11th month of pregnancy: approx. 400 - 500 g per kg 100 body weight per day, from this quantity no
additional mineral feed is required.
Hard keepers: additionally linseed oil, Glyx-Wiese Luzerne Mix and/or grain.
Easy keepers: 50 % Equilac and 50 % Equigard, supplemented with Gemüse-Kräuter Mineralien.
1st to 3rd month of lactation: increase amount to max. 600 g per 100 kg body weight and day.
From the 5th month of lactation: gradually reduce Equilac.
Stop feeding the broodmare feed when the foal is weaned.
With lower dosage or supply shortages, we recommend adding Gemüse-Kräuter Mineralien or MicroVital.

Feeding advice:
Due to a higher vitamin and trace element content compared to complete feed, this complementary feed may only be fed to horses as up to 33,3% of their daily rations (incl. hay). Please keep to the feeding recommendation.
